The city of Trenton is the recipient of a nearly $1.5 million grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for the purchase of two new electric sanitation vehicles. The funding, which is a result of NJDEP's Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, is meant to counter the air quality impacts of excess nitrogen oxide emissions. The program allows the city to replace gas-powered equipment with new electric equipment. 'I'm excited that we can make this step toward electrifying our city sanitation vehicles,' Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora said in a press release.
